Budapest
Trip to Budapest was my last trip just before closing the borders because of Coronavirus. For safety reasons, I have not decided to go to the thermal baths that I’ve dreamed of for a long time. It will be an excuse to return to this beautiful city that enchanted us. Budapest is a wonderful metropolis with a lot to offer. The city was formed from the unification of 3 cities Buda and Óbuda and located on the other side of the Danube, Pest. There’s a lot to visit there, only within 1 day we walked 18 kilometers. I recommend entering the Gothic church of Saint Matthias and his tower. The church itself is really original and the tower offers a beautiful view of the whole Budapest and you can admire the colorful ceramic roof tiles of the church. I’ve got one curiosity for you. Do you know who wanted to buy the Hungarian parliament? Freddie Mercury! In the mid-1980s, when Queen was sailing on the Danube, Freddie said, “Is this building for sale? How many bedrooms does it have? “Of course, he was joking, but the truth is that the parliament is really majestic and it makes an impression on everyone. When it comes to food, I love Lángos (a deep fried dough) with cream cheese and garlic. I won’t confess to you, though, how many I ate 😉 The second favorite Hungarian delicacy, this time sweet, is Kürtőskalács (a yeast dough in the shape of a hollow cylinder baked in a special oven, served for example sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon)! And let’s not forget about delicious goulash or sweet smoked pepper.
